I started taking salsa classes at Latin Energy a year ago and haven't stopped dancing since. I have also taken bachata and performance courses. The instructors are amazing; very friendly and helpful. I've made so many great friends in the classes and at the socials. If you would like to learn how to dance, you found the best place, Latin Energy Dance Company!

Excellent instructors, and overall an amazing environment for learning Latin dance! EDIT: After taking Latin Energy classes and attending their socials for the past 7 months, I can honestly say I've become a very confident Bachata and Salsa dancer. They don't just teach you moves, they teach you how to dance confidently, and enjoy dancing. 10/10 experience. There's a reason their rating is at exactly 5.0/5.0 starts after 150+ reviews :)

UPDATE: I have now been to 4 of their social nights (performed at one of them) and I had the time of my life at every occasion! The DJ usually plays a mix of 3 salsa songs and 2 bachata songs and adds a chacha/other Latin genre in there. They always have a dance lesson before the event (one for beginners, one for intermediates) and it really helps set a fun, open-minded and welcoming mood for everyone, from beginner to professional. It's worth noting that apart from their salsa and bachata classes, I've taken their "Latin mix" class, which is great for learning a basic of other Latin dances, such as chacha, cumbia, merengue, tango, reggaeton, etc. I've also taken their student performance class (which alternates between salsa/bachata), which I must say was the best class so far as I've made so many great friends, all lovers of salsa/bachata! The fact that this school is still at 5 stars after 76 reviews speaks volumes about students' overall satisfaction. All the instructors are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, down to earth and welcoming to all students! You WILL feel at ease at this dancing school. At the same time though, if you're up for a challenge, they certainly have the expertise in their repertoire! In the intermediate/advanced classes, you definitely have to be up to the task, but the experience is still so fun and invigorating. Overall, you can see that a lot of time and effort goes into preparing these classes to make it a fun and seamless experience for all students. I have yet to attend their socials & other events, but if they're anything like the classes, I'm in for several nights to remember! My only regret is not signing up for this several years ago!!

Absolutely love this place! Mark and Vanessa are the perfect bachata instructors, fun, patient, and incredibly talented. Their passion for dance is contagious, and they create such a welcoming, high-energy environment. Our favourite night of the week is definitely bachata class, it’s the perfect mix of learning, movement, and great vibes. Highly recommend to anyone looking to dance, connect, and have fun!

Where do I start! Let's start from the beginning... At the beginning of last year 2022, I had previously written down some new activities I wanted to try out (improv, yoga, and dance) outside of my normal hobbies (i.e. sports). For dance, I was choosing between Swing Dance and Latin Ballroom. I had no prior experience, let alone any dance background, but wanted to challenge myself. I took a long look at dance studios near me on google for recommendations, and Latin Energy ("LE") stood out to me since they had the most reviews and was rated a perfect 5.0 stars. Wow, insane. That sold me! I had to hold out a little, as Omicron was still an issue, until March of 2022, when I decide to take the leap of faith, and signed up for the Bachata 1 Beginner class. After the first class, it was quite enjoyable, albeit somewhat intimidating, but very excited to go to my next class. I would say, my next few classes I was struggling with some of the simple stuff! But the ladies I was dancing with were super supportive, and Vanessa, my instructor, was also extremely patient during my growing pains. After the 3rd class, I got COVID, and missed out on the last 2 classes, but I really enjoyed it despite the struggles, so I asked Mark, the owner/instructor, if I could repeat, and he offered it at a discount. I re-took the Bachata 1 class, and felt more comfortable with the concepts, and eventually moved onto Bachata 2. During this time, I learnt what a social dance was, and both instructors and class members urged me to check out the one Latin Energy was hosting. I brought a friend with me, who I thought would enjoy it, and it was an absolute blast! Though, when at the social, I realized I hadn't learnt Salsa, so half the time, I was just sitting on the sidelines. This sent me (along with my friend) down the path to learn Salsa, which ended my Bachata learning journey for the time being. Since that point on from my first Social, my focus has been to learn Salsa, and just recently, I took a private class over the holiday's with Mark to catch myself up to Bachata level 3. Now starting in 2023, I have started my intermediate journey, in both Salsa and Bachata :) I can say, in the last 10 months since I started learning dance at Latin Energy, in hopes of not sounding too tacky, but it has been a life-changing experience. I cannot say enough good things about the PEOPLE at LE. Mark, Vanessa, Katie, Steve, and April, are such warm and inviting individuals, who are superb at their craft. They understand dance at very deep and credible level, and have a wonderful sense of humour to keep classes light. On top of that, I've met so many people in this community, and made a lot of new friends along the way. So if you're looking for a new hobby this year, that is challenging, fun, entertaining, social, physical, and a whole lot of other good stuff, I would highly recommend to come check out Latin Energy. LE has given me so much, and I am utmost grateful for the all memorable experiences I have had up until this point, through quality instructors, in a fun and supportive dance community. And hey, dance is suppose to be fun, so even if you screw up (and you will), just laugh it off! Life is too short to take yourself so seriously.
