  Sadly, I decided to give Royal York Dental a second chance to become my family dentist. During my first experience with the clinic, I had issues with booking appointments and a lack of follow-up from the front desk, which led me to seek care elsewhere. More recently, I developed a cracked molar and thought I would try Royal York Dental again. I booked an appointment and spoke with the office manager, Dominique, who was very helpful and ensured I was scheduled promptly. I was seen by Dr. Hashemi, who I found to be attentive and professional. I explained my concern that the crack was close to the nerve and that I wanted to avoid a root canal if possible. Due to the complexity of the case, Dr. Hashemi referred me to a prosthodontist in Mississauga. After a consultation, I did not feel confident proceeding with that provider. I then spoke with a periodontal specialist I know, who referred me to a prosthodontist he trusts. I was able to see this prosthodontist the same day. He was confident that a root canal would not be necessary and explained that he had managed hundreds of similar cases successfully. He completed the initial tooth preparation and placed a temporary crown. One week later, just before the Christmas holidays, the permanent crown was placed without issue. Because I wanted Royal York Dental to continue as my family dental clinic, I had all records and results sent back to them. I then received a message from Dominique stating: “Due to the complexity of the occlusion, it is out of the scope of practice of Dr. Hashemi as a general dentist, and that is why she referred you to be under the care of a prosthodontist.” This response confused me, as the prosthodontics treatment had already been fully completed. I replied to clarify that the procedure was finished and that I was simply hoping to move forward with Dr. Hashemi as my general dentist for routine care. I then received a response stating: “Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate your needs as a whole.” Based on this response, it appears I have been flagged as a high-risk patient, despite the issue having been resolved and my request being solely for ongoing general dental care. This outcome is disappointing, particularly given that the issue was fully resolved and my request was limited to routine dental care. Sadly, it appears that patients who take a cautious, informed approach to dental treatment—especially those mindful of past complications and long-term outcomes—may not align with the clinic’s current model of care.

  Been going to Royal York Dental all my life and I’m always happy with the service. The staff always friendly and welcoming and always make sure you have what you need. My hygienist, Cat, is the best. She’s very thorough and explains anything she’s working on and very accommodating.

  Excellent dental office in South Etobicoke. Dr Hashemi is professional, knowledgeable, efficient and personable. Also really like my hygienist, Jessica she does a great job is gentle and has a lovely personality. Highly recommend this clinic!

Special thanks Dr. Aiello to took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable throughout the appointment. The clinic was clean, modern, and well organized. I really appreciated how smooth and stress-free the whole visit was. I would definitely recommend Royal York Dental and will be coming back for future appointments.
