There’s a lot of events held at this community centre for all ages. Check the schedule we’ll in advance to book for recreation. I went to a free community flower show on a weekend afternoon. It’s not a new centre so it’s a little dated and the facilities could use an upgrade.

Unprofessional staff, wanted to book a room, they checked the computer and said it's available and we made the request. Then last minute the manager pulls up and says we will not confirm the booking before 2 weeks and she left us running pillar to post. Tha k God, Markham area community centre staff were very welcoming and did everything professionally, got the booking well in time. There is no accountability here, staff act as if they own the place. Mannerless people.

Extremely rude employees. No respect towards others, extremely condescending and confrontational. Feb 6 at 1150am during a public skate one of the employees started blowing a whistle and point at me and scowling. I was extremely confused, so I went over. She started patronizing me about how it was a senior skate only, I calmly said I thought this was an adult skate - which I did, I didn’t understand that it was senior, easy misunderstanding. But instead she continued berating me and scolding me like I was a child, she DEMANDED that I get off the ice immediately. I’m over 30 years old, I’ve been skating my whole life, I wasn’t a danger to anyone or causing a scene other than a simple misunderstanding- and there was only 10 minutes left of the public skate, also the ice was not crowed at all, and I was with my father who is relearning how to skate after his knee replacement and is over 60… If you’re going to work for the city and speak to the public often then we should prioritize hiring people who are kind and calm. It wasn’t a problem for me to get off the ice, but maybe be a people person if you’re going to work in public service. I hope someone looks into this. I wouldn’t want to have to come across her on a bad day when there is an actual issue.

Ps. There is also a "book nook" where you can buy and donate used books in the foyer as you walk through the main doors. Parking is not bad, washrooms are clean and accessible. Water fountain and bottle fill station are present.
