The Toronto Police Museum offers an engaging indoor experience where kids can learn about law enforcement history and see real police vehicles.

What to expect

This museum provides a unique opportunity for children to explore the world of policing, with exhibits that often include historical artifacts and vehicles. It's an indoor attraction, making it a great option for a rainy day, and offers a glimpse into the evolution of law enforcement in Toronto. While not exclusively for children, the interactive elements and displays can be particularly interesting for school-aged kids.

Ideal for families with children aged 6-12 interested in police history and vehicles.

A small museum with lots of potential! (Especially given that the museum does not actually receive funding from the Police Service.) The concept is excellent and I passed by the curator by chance and had a little chat. She is a very friendly and warm person and you could tell she is dedicated to the museum! I enjoyed the interactive features; for example, you could ride on the motorcycle and have your photo taken. However, many of the lights in the gallery were not open/broken, making it difficult to see many of the exhibits/read the descriptions. And as another reviewer pointed out, some of the cases were dusty and the exhibits overall could use some updates. I understanding that it's challenging given the limited funding, so I'm really hoping that the museum receives more funding, as it's really neat to trace the history of a type of service that is so relevant and crucial to our everyday lives. Note that for individual visits, you no longer need to book in advance; just come by during its opening hours and pass through security at the front entrance. The gift shop closed early during my visit (not sure if that's a more long-term hour change), but I'd love to come back to the gift shop and take a look.

A really nice small museum that has a bunch of interesting exhibits about the history of police in Toronto. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. There is even a nice little gift shop, a nice place to spend some time when in the area.

2024 September 4★ A free museum showcasing Toronto Police services throughout the history. Some artifacts, badges and tools used. Not that big. About 5000sqft in all. Note that you have to go through a security screening upon entry. Gift shop directly across. Street parking across the police station. About 30-60 minutes is all you need.

There's just something about the audacity of thinking we need a museum for the Toronto Police?? However, some exhibits did highlight the history of policing like how officers investigate scenes of crime - that is to say, material approachable for the general public. Not a single mention of anything taking place after the year 2000, aside from the police uniforms.

This was a great little museum to pop in and check out. Looking at the exhibits brings out so many emotions, from being proud to being sad. They have a billboard that has the tally of the traffic deaths of pedestrians and motorists to date and I really feel they should have this posted in the city (I believe they used to), because it's a real eye opener. There is a holding cell, the old turn style light that they had before the stop lights, and a very nice tribute to some of the fallen. There's so much to check out, that you'll probably spend a good hour in here. My only suggestion, is that I wished they would have given some sort of context in regards to the 6 mannequins wearing the police uniforms. I wasn't sure if one of them was a marine wetsuit or something else that was special.
