My son had his braces done at Village Orthodontics, Sq 1 under Dr Murrell. The entire treatment was flawless and very professional. All the staff members including reception staff, dental technicians, xray staff and the Dr himself are accommodating and respectful over the 2 years of treatment. When my son had a few out-of-hours wire/alignment issues with his braces, a dentist was always available to see him within a couple hours at the most. We are happy with his treatment and can recommend Village Orthodontics and Dr Murrell for braces. My son is thrilled with his smile 😊

My son had his braces for two years, and an expander before that. We had a great experience from start to finish. Dr. Murrell and the staff were friendly, professional, and made every appointment easy. His smile looks great!

I have been a patient at Village Orthodontics since my early twenties. My orthodontist, Dr. Ducet, and the team at the Square One Village location have been very supportive. The outcome of my treatment has been exceptional. One reason I wanted to leave a review is that not everyone has the same opportunities in life. Some people must work harder to obtain or provide for themselves than others. Ultimately, everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable and able to access the same treatment as those who may have the means. Village Orthodontics has helped me and my mother afford the cost of braces and ongoing treatment as needed. I am very thankful to have found Village Orthodontics and am happy to call you a part of my transformative journey. Thank you for your assistance along the way and for helping me maintain a beautiful appearance.

Village Orthodontics was recommended by our dentist, and our son was placed under the care of Dr. Rebecca Doucet for what was supposed to be a simple six-month orthodontic treatment that ultimately lasted nine months. His teeth were overcorrected, and when we raised this concern, we were told it was not an issue. We were upset and insisted that it be corrected. It was clear that Dr. Doucet was not pleased about having to fix her own work. We let the matter go at the time, but we knew we would not be sending our daughter to her. Six years later, my son’s retainer began turning greenish-brown. When we returned to ask what was happening, Dr. Doucet described the metal solder as “tarnished” and told us this was normal and not to worry. I attended this appointment with my son, and she did not acknowledge me at all. Her explanation did not sit right with me, so we returned for clarification. I explained that I would not wear tarnished jewelry, so I would not expect my son to wear a tarnished retainer. At that point, she changed her wording and said she had used “the wrong word.” According to widely accepted orthodontic guidance—including information commonly shared by orthodontic associations, dental schools, and orthodontic appliance manufacturers—discoloration of metal solder or joints can indicate corrosion. Corroded solder may weaken the retainer, trap bacteria, and compromise hygiene and safety. For this reason, many orthodontic professionals recommend replacing retainers that show signs of corrosion or metal discoloration. Being told this was “normal” was deeply concerning. When I told her that I did not accept her explanation, in front of clinic staff, Dr. Doucet’s behaviour became even more unprofessional. She raised her voice, waved her hands exasperatedly, and said, “What do you want me to do? If you want a new one, you’ll have to pay for it.” Her dismissive attitude, lack of acknowledgment, and frustration toward valid questions were shocking—especially given the significant amount of money we spent on our son’s orthodontic care. In my opinion, we should not have been expected to pay for a replacement retainer due to poor workmanship on the original one. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and dismissive treatment of both patient and parent made this one of the most frustrating healthcare experiences we’ve had. Based on our experience, I do not recommend Dr. Rebecca Doucet due to her unprofessional conduct.
