I had looked forward to trying Café de Flore based on it's charming Parisian aesthetic. The interior has a cool sophisticated vibe and the outside tables, although close to the street, have a decisively French feel. On this occasion, my companion and I ordered a Cortado and a cold brew, and sat at the street side tables. My overall impression with this experience is that it had a lovely urban feel, but the sophistication of the coffee preparation was slightly lacking. I have reviewed a lot of coffee shops over the last year two years in Toronto and the level of sophistication of the coffee roasting, blending and preparation is, as I have said many times, absolutely world class. Therefore, at times I find it slightly unfair to expect neighbourhood cafés, who are also attempting to do a selection of pastries and menu items, to have the same ability to focus on their coffee that those establishments strictly dedicated to coffee can have. When I ask for a Cortado I do not expect to be asked whether I want a single or double shot. A Cortado is a standard coffee beverage, which should simply be prepared with two shots of espresso and an equal amount of steamed milk. Similarly, my companion asked whether they had cold brew coffee, and although they replied, yes they served her a iced Americano. Having said all this, the coffee was good and the experience was enjoyable . With so much excellent coffee on offer in the city I'm not sure I would return to Cafe de Flore for the coffee, but certainly would return for a small slice of Paris in the city.

I stopped by Café de Flore Patisserie recently, and it was a bit of a mixed experience, though overall, I had a good time. I tried their chocolate croissant, and while it was decent, I wasn’t blown away. It wasn’t as flaky and indulgent as I hoped, but still good enough to enjoy with my coffee. On the flip side, the turkey sandwich was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect balance of ingredients. The coffee was also on point—rich, smooth, and a great pick-me-up. The only downside to my visit was the cleanliness of the tables. Given the cute, chic aesthetic of the place, I was expecting the environment to match in terms of cleanliness, but the tables had a noticeable smell and didn’t feel as clean as they should have been. It’s a small detail, but it did affect the overall vibe a bit. If they paid a little more attention to the cleanliness, this could easily be a 5-star spot. Still, the food and coffee make it worth checking out!

This is a cute cafe but the patisserie part of it is misleading. The location itself is a very clean spot, though the music coming out of one radio was far too loud and I needed to bring the headphones out. The service was good and brought my food to the table, which was greatly appreciated. The latte was not bad but much weaker than I expected. I could have gotten a double shot but it felt like it was a trickle to begin with. The sandwich was also lacking in some aromatics. Dill would have gone a long way to brighten up this sandwich, which was mostly overpowered by the lox. Finally, the chocolate chip cookie had a distinctive snap but no chew, almost like it was left in the oven a bit too long. It's not a bad place for a coffee but the pastries, especially the croissant, was not really up to snuff.

Great service and atmosphere. I ordered an iced matcha latte and a salmon baguette 🥖. Advice: as with any baguette, eat it hot and fresh. The colder it gets the stiffer it gets. The matcha latte was really nice. Very refreshing and chilled. I saw them make it with ease and precision. The overall atmosphere is great. I liked the ambiance of the cozy cafe vibe and it seemed like a great place to socialize and even get some work done. I'll definitely be revisiting soon. A short distance from the Royal York Station, it's a good spot whether you are taking the ttc or walking or driving. There's paid street parking available. The whole street has a nice vibe tbh.

Went for snacks at Cafe de Flore Patisserie. My friend had Capuccino and Broccoli and Cheese Quiche. I had Machiato and Almond Croissant. Their coffee was so good there was no bitter after taste. The quiche was delicious, the croissant - flaky and buttery with sweet almond cream filling and topped with toasted almonds. I also had butter croissant to go because they were so good. I also tried the macaroon and I have tasted better. Daniel provided excellent customer service. He was by himself making the coffee, doing the cash register, serving the orders and cleaning the place and yet he does everything with a smile. We will surely go back to this place to try other pastries.
