From an academic standpoint, Carter is, for a lack of a better word, "worse" than the academic potential that you may be able to acquire within other schools. This is not an issue with the teachers (most of them at least), but rather an issue with the limitations Carter is subjected to, due to how the school is scheduled and the size of the school itself. While Carter may be better than some of the average high schools in the GTA, there are much better options out there and Carter should not be a first priority by any means when it comes to considering a school from an academic standpoint. From the standpoint of the arts, Carter is only superior to other high schools due to its heavy prioritisation of the arts at hand. But even with this prioritisation, there really is no true learning that is happening within the arts. There are no techniques that are being taught in regards to whichever art area you may choose. There is only the process of learning through repetition. When it comes to the art areas, they are merely just an ego boost for both the teachers and the students. This mindless repetition, while it may be inefficient, is still enough to put value in Carter. But this value is not enough for an actual learning experience. Whether you think this should be your motivation to enter the school or not, is purely up to you. At the time of this review, the school is seeking improvement, but has not fully done so yet as it is currently in its experimental stage. The bottom line is, Carter is slightly above average compared to other schools but there are so many better options that you could make if this is the school that you truly desire to go to. Ask yourself what you truly desire before you finalise that this is really the school you want to go to.

I had only spent one year in the strings program at this school, and I’m so glad I didn’t spend the rest of my highschool years. The staff is awful. The student counselor especially. They all have very strange entitled behaviors (who knows why) and the atmosphere is extremely toxic. Also the teachers are almost all white and it’s just weird.

I am proud to write that because of this school's enthusiasm in the field of arts, my daughter went here for 3 years and I see that this centre brought the best out of her. I had my daughter attend this centre from 2019 to 2022 as she always had a passion for art since her toddler years. I can see this school accelerated her interest thereby resulting in success in the field of arts. To this day, her talent has allowed her to develop many personal skills such as critical thinking, creativity (thinking outside the box), and much more. The staff are all wonderful and I have nothing but good things to say about this centre.

Having spent two years at Carter, the environment has been amazing. In grade ten drama, I’ve learned so much about the technical elements of the theatre and I’ve improved as an actor and director. The teachers are very supportive and are a lot of the reason I’ve come so far since grade eight. It is the best school I could’ve picked for me as a person and I love the tech crew program with all my heart! I’m so proud to be a student here!
