We arrived at the Library Bar at the Fairmont Royal York on my girlfriend’s birthday, mid-week, assuming it would be a quiet night. To our surprise, the bar was completely sold out. Ilda greeted us with such warmth, energy, and genuine enthusiasm that we instantly felt taken care of. Within minutes, she found us what felt like the best seat in the house, even though it had been reserved for a later party. Our server was fantastic, walking us through the intricate cocktail menu with passion and detail, and the whole atmosphere felt elegant but lively. At one point, Ilda came over dancing, perfectly in tune with Pink Pony Club and somehow knowing exactly what song we’d be into. It was such a fun, memorable touch. We felt so celebrated and welcomed. Thank you, Ilda, and the entire Library Bar team for making the night so special.

Overall, I would say the restaurant was really good. The food was good and the pricing was okay. We had a burger with Caesar salad. The burger wasn’t spectacular, not the best I’ve ever had, but it was decent and I would recommend it. We also had the pork belly bao, which was very good, and the truffle fries, which were excellent. I tried Clara’s perfume drink, which had a story behind it. I liked that, but I thought it was a bit overhyped and pricey. Service was good and the wait time was okay. The décor was really nice, subtle and elegant. I would rate this place around 7 or 8 out of 10. Not a bad spot, and I would recommend going at least once.:)

We had a fantastic meal at the Library Bar, an elegant and refined spot tucked inside the historic Fairmont Royal York hotel with a cozy, classic-meets-modern vibe that makes it perfect for everything from a cocktail date, the chatter around May seem to raised volumes once spirits rise but overall you can continue to be engrossed in your own conversations. The atmosphere is polished and welcoming, with low seating and beautifully detailed interior that feels both timeless and special. For our main, we ordered the Steak Fritz, a generous 12 oz AAA striploin cooked beautifully, served with crisp frites and crowned with a rhubarb-beetroot ketchup that offered just the right touch of sweetness and earthiness to complement the rich steak. It was flavorful and interesting, the beet-infused twist we weren’t expecting but absolutely enjoyed. We also noticed a Roasted Heirloom Beets starter on the menu drizzled with whipped goat feta, pecans, citrus and sourdough croutons, a delicious, bright dish that paired nicely if you’re looking for something lighter or veggie-forward. Coupled with attentive service, creative mocktails , and a menu that balances elevated classics with approachable comfort, our meal was excellent overall. Highly recommend stopping in for both drinks and dinner when you are in the city!

We walked into Library Bar at the Fairmont for a birthday celebration without a reservation and were told there’d be about a 10-minute wait — which was perfectly fine and definitely worth it. The moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere felt elegant yet cozy, with its dim lighting, plush seating, and that timeless Fairmont sophistication that makes the evening feel special from the start. Once seated, we ordered a few appetizers and paired them with a beautiful glass of wine. The menu isn’t extensive, but it’s clearly designed with care — every item feels intentional and high quality. We also tried some of their signature cocktails, which were creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. The entire experience — from the food to the drinks — felt refined and indulgent. Our server was wonderful: warm, professional, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The highlight of the night was when they surprised us with a crème brûlée topped with a candle and a handwritten “Happy Birthday” message. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel extra special. The total came to about $400 for the two of us, including drinks — certainly on the pricier side, but for the quality, service, and atmosphere, it felt justified. It’s not an everyday spot, but for a special occasion, it’s worth every dollar. Overall, Library Bar perfectly blends classic elegance with a relaxed, intimate feel. A beautiful choice for celebrations, quiet evenings, or simply enjoying good wine and conversation in one of Toronto’s most timeless settings.

Feb 2026: first time visiting this incredibly beautiful bar/restaurant! You come here for the ambiance and the vibes (classy cozy, warm). Service 10/10 Drinks: I had "Three Hearts" 10/10 (light, fruity, medium sweetness). $21 Food: - I had lamb kofta ($29) ~ 5 pieces. It's more appetizer size rather than main. More spicy than I prefer. Would have also loved hummus as an option - Mushroom toast - ($35) tasty! - Dessert: Storytime - INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!!!
