Adrian Punzalan is the BEST teacher! I am an adult learning piano and have been with Adrian for the past 6 months. His skills as both a teacher and as a pianist are exceptional. He is able to explain complicated musical theory in a simple and digestible manner. Furthermore, Adrian provided excellent guidance to the direction of my learning, ensuring there is a good balance between simple pieces to learn quickly, and more difficult pieces to develop musicality and technique. My sons, currently 7 and 8 years old, have been taking piano lessons at the Merriam school of music in Toronto for the last 2 years. Their instructor Adrian is amazing! He is extremely patient, puts in the extra effort to find music that interests them, and is overall a great piano teacher! I love that the Merriam program incorporates different styles of music, ranging from classical to jazz, encourages improvisation and compositon, and introduces theory from the start. They also plan numerous in person and virtual concerts that give the students an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and gain confidence.
