I loveeeeeee greetings cards and Open Studio has an awesome selection—all by local artists. They also have small art exhibitions focusing on the most urgent matters of our contemporary lives. Definitely coming back.

I LOVE OPEN STUDIO!! I seriously cannot recommend it enough. I joined as a member about one year ago as a recent graduate and newcomer to Toronto, feeling quite overwhelmed. Since then, Open Studio has given me a beautiful sense of purpose and community. The space is filled with all the equipment I could ever need as a printmaker. They also offer all kinds of classes. I’ve already taken two; stone lithography with Joy and Etching with Danny- and both were fantastic. Everyone I’ve encountered in the space is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and always willing to chat and help, from employees, to fellow members. Pudy is always assisting me with projects whenever I need it—he is one of the most knowledgeable and patient people I know! He’s always around and makes the studio a very positive space. Pat and Laura are both also fantastic. Both of them work hard to support the studio. Laura is constantly promoting artists’ work and encouraging them to grow. I must also mention the perfect location of the space, right inside of 401 Richmond. The building itself is beautiful, and has a Dark Horse location just down the hall, which comes in very handy, especially in the colder months. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to visit this space—whether to support local printmakers by purchasing a beautiful print from the front gallery, visiting the current exhibitions, taking a class, or joining as a member and use the space for your own practice!
