I stopped by Simply South in Scarborough last weekend and decided to grab a takeout order of Paneer Ghee Roast Biryani and Chennai wedding Style Chicken Biryani. Right from the moment I walked in, the customer service really stood out the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive, which perfectly matched the inviting vibe of the restaurant itself. As for the food, the biryanis had a lovely aroma and were quite decent, though they didn’t fully live up to what we were hoping for. It’s possible that the takeout experience didn’t do the dishes full justice, so next time I plan to dine in and give it another try. I’ve heard great things about their dosas, so I’m definitely looking forward to coming back for those soon.

We recently visited Simply South in Scarborough, and the dining ambience was fantastic — clean, cozy, and perfect for both small and large groups. Coming to the food, the Chicken 65 was delicious and packed with rich Chennai-style flavours, just like the Chicken Pakoda, which was equally good. The prawns were tasty as well. Both Chicken Rasam and Mutton Paya Soup were outstanding — full of authentic South Indian flavour. The Vazhakka Bajji and Papad served with three types of chutneys made for great starters. The highlight dishes were definitely the Parotta with Salna — freshly made and absolutely flavorful — and the Chicken Kothu Parotta, which was equally yummy. Another standout was the Chicken Fried Rice, which tasted just like authentic street-style fried rice — outstanding! I also tried the Dosas, Chicken Biryani, and Paneer Dum Biryani; they were decent, and the Jigarthanda was okay. Overall, it was a nice dining experience with great food and pleasant ambience.

We came as a group of 8 on a Sunday night. Menu has many options, we ordered 2 mutton biryani, nellore fish, poori with mutton, noodles, chicken 65 dry and 3 bajji appetizer with 2 mutton soup. Mutton soup was delicious! Nellore fish and poori with mutton was great as well! Mutton Biryani was decent and stuffed bajji is better than the regular one. However, the service wasn’t the best. We only got water after 30 minutes of being seated. Everyone’s main meal came out at different times so we weren’t really eating “together”. The waitress never came to check up on us and the food. Instead we had to wave at them multiple times— for water, to order, the bill, etc. Because we came as a group of 8 there was 18% gratuity, which isn’t a problem— if service is good, but it wasn’t. Overall, pretty restaurant and aesthetic, good food but okay service.

Great spot for South Indian food. We tried the poori with chicken curry, prawn fry, podi dosa and finished with filter coffee, everything was really good. The prawns were the highlight, absolutely awesome and full of flavour. Definitely coming back!

Unlike SimpliSouth Oshawa, the Scarborough location truly impressed us on every front. The ambience is excellent, the food is top-notch, and the service is genuinely outstanding. The starters were absolutely mind-blowing, and every dish we tried was packed with flavor and quality. I would happily give 5 stars for food, service, and atmosphere without hesitation. What really stood out—and deserves special mention—is the diaper changing station. This is a huge plus and a real lifesaver for families with infants. Very few restaurants think about this, and it shows how thoughtful and inclusive this location is. The staff were extremely accommodating and attentive throughout our visit—always around to help, polite, and proactive. Overall, this is easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had recently. Highly recommended, especially for families. Will definitely be back! 👏
