I absolutely love this place. I started taking classes here just over a month ago, and it has quickly become my second home. The staff and teachers are all amazing and so welcoming. I’ve wanted to take hip hop classes for years, and the offerings here are incredible. The fundamentals classes are one of my favorite parts — they really drill in the basic movements, which makes a huge difference when taking choreography-based classes. I also tried a private lesson with Kieth after taking a bunch of group classes to really hone in on my technique, and I got exactly what I needed from it. He is an amazing dancer, teacher, and person. I can’t recommend The Underground Dance Centre enough!

I’ve had a really positive experience taking the beginner Hip Hop and K-Pop classes at The Underground Dance Centre. Luke Zuliani is a great instructor, his classes are clear, fun, and very easy to follow, even if you’re starting out (I’m naturally pretty stiff, so this has been a huge win for me). What I like most is how comfortable and encouraging the vibe is. I’ve genuinely learned how to loosen up and enjoy dancing, and I’ve even been practicing at home with a friend to repeat what we learn in class. That’s a big reason why I keep coming back on Friday mornings. Highly recommend this studio. If you’re into dance, you’ll definitely find something here to improve your skills or simply have a great time.

I’ve only started going here since January, and overall I have mixed reviews. I think the classes are fun and you’re sure to get a good workout in, but I think they should have “Absolute beginner” classes in addition. The beginner classes are way too fast and complex for people that don’t have an extensive background in dance. Having a simpler class would allow more people to feel comfortable and more accomplished if they have a chance to nail the moves properly.

I want to leave a review to highlight how understanding and supportive the team at Underground Dance Centre is. Several years ago, I had a membership but unfortunately wasn’t able to attend classes at that time. Recently, I reached out to explain my situation and ask if it would be possible to return. Even though a lot of time had passed, the team handled everything with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. They were incredibly fair and supportive, and they helped me restart my journey with them in a way I truly didn’t expect. This level of understanding really shows how much they value people, not just policies. I’m very grateful and excited to finally begin classes now. Highly recommend!

My friends and I have been taking several dance classes at this studio from time to time; so I am actually providing not just my own but also the reviews on behalf of a few folks. Overall, we love this place! Start with the location: very convenient in downtown Toronto with restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery shopping options around, and close to bus and subway stops. They have different levels and genres of dance like beginner to advanced and classical to street. You can switch between levels and classes with different instructors. Many instructors are pretty chill and always encourage us to be the best of ourselves without worrying about competing against each other. Some instructors are really good dancers but may not be the best to teach a beginner level; and that’s okay cuz you have plenty of options here as mentioned above. I noticed that some ppl may have an issue with being filmed towards the end of the class. I would recommend just being vocal about it. Let the instructor or the staff member know that you don’t wanna be recorded and you can skip that round of dance when they are doing it. Keep up the good work and we are looking for more class options at the new year :-)
