This Toronto Public Library branch offers a welcoming space for families to explore books and participate in programs.

What to expect

The Parliament Street Branch is a public library, providing access to a wide range of books and resources for all ages. As a library, it's an excellent indoor option for a quiet outing, especially on a rainy day. While not exclusively for children, libraries often host events and offer materials that cater to younger visitors.

Best for

Ideal for families looking for free, educational, and engaging activities for children.

What parents say

  • Yashika Aneja

My recent experience at the library has been disappointingly subpar. The majority of seats are consistently occupied by homeless individuals, and the pervasive issues with non-functional computers, coupled with a month-long disruption in printing facilities, have severely compromised the environment for patrons seeking a conducive space for private study. The imbalance in occupancy detracts from the library's intended purpose, leaving much room for improvement in ensuring a more conducive and functional space for all visitors."

Bad smell. Lots of homeless people, there are needles around!! Gross

  • Heruk Sakya

I have no idea how this place is called a library. There are people watching videos on speaker, homeless people entering and making a scene, staff gossiping a lot and kids playing video games laughing and shouting. It's not a place to go if you need concentration.

Apart from the regular library services, you can get Museum and Art passes, called MAP from here. It will give free access for you and your family to premium locations like Toronto Zoo, Ontario Science center, Royal Ontario museum etc. Passes are limited and will be issued on first come first basis on Saturdays. You would need to reach a little earlier than opening hours to grab these passes. The photo attached with this give you an Idea of how many passes and locations available per week.

In winter that library is like -not a place for people doing serious study/research but more like a "warming centre" if you know what I mean. I stopped going there- i cant concentrate in such an environment. Management please do something about it
