The best Omurice in the Toronto area. Although this is still outside Toronto, we don’t mind travelling here. The food and service was great! The perfect restaurant if you came back from a trip from Japan and miss the fluffy pancakes, omurice, katsu, and matcha.

I would rate it 3.5 stars. The food wasn't hot enough, and the egg was overcooked. I expected this since I had checked their menu beforehand, which indicates that they serve the omurice at medium doneness according to Ontario food handling guidelines. I hope they reconsider this in the future, as many breakfast places offer sunny-side-up eggs, and if they use quality eggs, it should be fine since omurice is usually more runny. It would also be nice to have the option for customers to choose how they want their eggs cooked. Overall, the dish was okay, and the soufflé was very airy. I also tried the hojicha latte, but it was just average.

Love the Hojicha! It tastes great, but the food wasn’t hot enough. It was fully cooked, just not served hot. I will definitely come back to try their soufflé pancakes, as I saw many customers ordering them.

I had a lovely experience at Cafe Kenkaku. I ordered the Kenkaku omurice and the matcha pudding with red bean paste, and both were excellent. The omurice was comforting and well balanced — the omelet was soft and fluffy, and the rice inside was flavorful without being overwhelming. You can really tell care went into the preparation, and it felt like a thoughtful, home-style dish done right. For dessert, the matcha pudding with red bean paste was the perfect finish. The matcha flavor was rich but not bitter, and the red bean paste added just the right amount of sweetness and texture. It wasn’t too heavy, which made it especially enjoyable. Overall, Cafe Kenkaku offers cozy vibes, carefully made food, and a relaxing place to enjoy a comforting meal. I’d definitely come back to try more from their menu.

Absolutely fantastic experience! This Japanese restaurant truly shines, especially with their omurice perfectly fluffy eggs wrapped around flavorful rice, cooked just right and presented beautifully. Every bite was comforting and delicious, with clear attention to detail and quality ingredients. The matcha desserts were the perfect finish. Rich, smooth, and not overly sweet, the matcha flavor was authentic and balanced, making it a dream for any matcha lover. From the food to the warm, welcoming atmosphere, everything felt thoughtful and genuine.
